Shah Mir University – Admission Policy

This Admission Policy of Shah Mir University has been formulated in alignment with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi & state Government from time to time.

The registration, admission, counseling, fee refund, cancellation, and scholarship processes outlined in this document strictly adhere to the norms laid down by UGC to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in student admissions. The policy aims to uphold student rights and institutional integrity while promoting access to quality education in an equitable manner.

      1. Admission Process 

      Shah Mir University follows a transparent, merit-based/entrance test admission process in compliance with UGC norms and institutional regulations.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      ✔ Candidates must meet the minimum academic qualifications as prescribed for each program.
      ✔ Admission to UG/PG programs will be based on:

      • Academic performance (10th / 10+2 / Graduation as applicable)
      • Valid score in university entrance test / any other equivalent test (like JEE, NEET, etc)
      • Personal Interview / Group Discussion
      • Any other criteria notified by the University

       

      Mode of Application:

      Online through the official university portal
      Offline via the Admission Cell at the University Campus

      Required Documents:

      • Mark sheets and certificates (10th, 12th, Graduation)
      • Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate
      • Aadhaar Card or any valid identity proof
      • Recent passport-size photographs
      • Category certificate (if applicable)
      • Any other document as per program requirements

       

      Selection Process:

      1. Scrutiny of application form and documents
      2. Shortlisting based on merit/ entrance test and reservation policy as per Govt. of Rajasthan guidelines
      3. For admission to undergraduate and postgraduate levels in each faculty, reservations will be provided as follows:
        • 16% for Scheduled Castes (SC)
        • 12% for Scheduled Tribes (ST)
        • 21% for Other Backward Classes (OBC)
        • 5% for Most Backward Classes (MBC) (excluding creamy layer)
        • 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
        • Additionally, 30% of the total approved seats (horizontal reservation) will be reserved for women.
      1. Issuance of provisional admission letter
      2. Payment of prescribed admission and tuition fee to confirm admission

       

      1. Fee Refund Policy

      The Fee Refund Policy of Shah Mir University adheres to the UGC Notification [No. F.1-3/2007 (CPP-II)] dated October 2018.

Situation Refund
Before commencement of classes (15 days or more) 100% (excluding admission fee)
Less than 15 days before class commencement 90%
Within 15 days of class commencement 80%
Between 16 to 30 days of class commencement 50%
After 30 days of class commencement No refund

Note:
Admission/Registration fee is non-refundable.
Refund will be processed only after submission of original fee receipt and approval from the competent authority.
Refund shall be made within 30 working days of receiving a written request.

3. Scholarship Policy

Shah Mir University provides scholarships to encourage academic excellence and promote inclusive education. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, social category, and special considerations, subject to attendance and performance.

A. Indian Students – Scholarship Programme (2025-26)

85% & above 50% of tuition fee in First Semester
80% & above 25% of tuition fee in First Semester
SMU Alumni 25% of tuition fee (all Semesters), 100% Admission Fee Waiver, Caution Money Carry Forward
Ward of SMU Employee 50% of tuition fee in all Semesters
Single Parent (Mother Living) 25% of tuition fee in all Semesters
Employee’s Relative (Blood Relation) 25% of tuition fee in all Semesters
Sibling Student (Second Child Onwards) 25% of tuition fee in all Semesters
Physically Challenged Student 25% of tuition fee in all Semesters
Female Student 100% of Admission Fee Waiver
Ward of Defence & Paramilitary Forces 100% of Admission Fee Waiver
Represented at National Level in Sports 25% of tuition fee in all Semesters
SMU Staff Member 50% of tuition fee in all Semesters
B. International Students – Scholarship Programme (2025-26)
Criteria Scholarship
90% Marks in Semester Exams 50% waiver in Tuition Fee (First Semester)
75% and < 90% Marks 25% waiver in Tuition Fee (First Semester)

Note:

  • Minimum 85% attendance in the semester is mandatory for eligibility.
  • Students availing scholarships must maintain satisfactory academic performance for renewal (if applicable).
  • Scholarships are non-transferable and applicable only for the specific academic session.
